


FRIENDS Workshop for 4 - Intro to Encaustic: Painting with Hot Wax

Put together your own group of 4 (ages 16+) and try something totally new! A unique way to celebrate a special milestone or just to get together with friends! Come have fun while exploring the fundamentals of encaustic in a safe and nurturing environment. Perfect for those new to art plus creatives looking to experiment with a new medium!
GROUP: 4 participants (age 16 +)
PRICE: $672 ($168/person - regular rate $180/person) - includes all materials
4 HOUR WORKSHOP: 12:30pm - 4:30pm
In this introductory hands-on workshop, you will learn…
a brief history of encaustic medium and how it’s made
how to safely + confidently use an Iwatani butane torch
how to prime a raw panel including fusing with the torch
different techniques of layering encaustic paint
how to create lines and pattern in the wax using inscribing tools
how to transfer a toner based image
have lots of time to experiment and play
PRICE INCLUDES: all supplies, materials and tools including 2 - 6x6 wood panels. You will be provided with a studio apron for use during class. Please wear comfortable clothing, indoor shoes and tie back long hair. In the winter, make sure you bring an extra layer (sweater/sweatshirt) as it can get chilly in the studio.
Bring your own snacks and a refillable water bottle or other non-alcoholic beverages.
